Jude Abbadessa led the way with a 2-for-4 performance as Maine-Endwell Little League of New York took home a 6-2 victory over Keystone Little League of Pennsylvania in a six-inning battle to capture the 2016 Little League Baseball® Mid-Atlantic Region Championship title.
Michael Mancini racked up 12 strikeouts in the Maine-Endwell LL win. In five innings of work, Mancini allowed just two earned runs on three hits while giving up a pair of walks.
Despite the loss, Keystone LL's Kaden Falls held the Maine-Endwell LL offense at bay, giving up just two runs while striking out 11 batters.
Maine-Endwell LL jumped on the board early on in the game and never looked back, scoring three runs on a two-run double by Ryan Harlost and an RBI single by Conner Rush in the first inning to take the lead before holding on to secure the 6-2 victory.
This will be the first appearance for Maine-Endwell Little League in the Little League Baseball World Series as the team represents the state of New York for only the 17th time ever in South Williamsport.
As the representative for the Mid-Atlantic Region, Maine Endwell LL will open the 2016 Little League Baseball World Series on Thursday, Aug. 18, as it takes on Warwick North Little League of Rhode Island, representative of the New England Region, at 3 p.m. in Howard J. Lamade Stadium.
